Book Study for Lent
Six Sundays, February 26 through April 2
11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
In the Libary
This year’s adult book series for Lent will study Listening for the Heartbeat of God by J. Philip Newell. This classic introduction to Celtic spirituality gets its title from the biblical image of John the Evangelist, also known as John the Beloved, leaning against Jesus at the Last Supper. Celtic tradition holds that by doing this he heard the heartbeat of God. He thus became a symbol of the practice of listening deeply — within ourselves, to one another, and to the body of the earth — for the rhythm of the Sacred Presence.
The book study meets in the parish library on Sundays from 11:45 am to 1 pm, for six weeks beginning February 26 and concluding April 2.
To register, please contact the office at 762-8872 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Participants are asked to come to the first session having read the introduction and first chapter. The book is in print and is easily obtained from your local bookstore, which can order it for you if it is not in stock. If you would like the church to obtain a copy for you, please request one at the time you register.
